In February 2023 Dr Marek Walczak and PhD student Theo Hugues had a scientific trip to Mexico City. The reason for such a long journey was to attended DEAP-3600 collaboration meeting, where scientists were presenting status of the experiment, discussing issues and plans. Our colleagues have presented AstroCeNT’s work on the Inelastic Boosted Dark Matter search in the DEAP-3600 experiment.
DEAP-3600 (Deep Underground Argon Experiment) is a dark matter experiment that aims to detect weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), which are a proposed type of dark matter. The experiment is located at SNOLAB, a deep underground laboratory in Ontario, Canada, and uses liquid argon as the target material for detecting WIMPs.
The DEAP-3600 experiment is part of a larger effort to search for dark matter and to better understand its nature. The results of the DEAP-3600 experiment will be compared to results from other dark matter experiments and could help to shed light on one of the biggest mysteries in astrophysics.
