We recently reached an important milestone at ASTROCENT: for the first time, we successfully operated a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) using ultra-cold argon gas in our cleanroom at @CEZAMAT. The detector can record two different light signals from particle interactions, both captured with the same optical readout system.
This is an important step forward, helping scientists better understand what happens inside the detector — a key capability for dark matter research and the study of rare particle interactions.
The group working on this project includes: Andre Cortez, Pedro da Silva, and Diego Rodas Rodríguez.
Their work is supported by the National Science Centre through the Sonata 19 programme, as well as by an EU MSCA grant.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
