Prof. Piotr Gawron, leader of Astrocent’s Group 5, attended the 2024 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2024). The event was held from July 7-12, 2024, in Athens, Greece and was hosted by the National Observatory of Athens, specifically the Operational Unit “BEYOND Centre of Earth Observation Research and Satellite Remote Sensing” of the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing. This year’s edition was held under the slogan “Acting for Sustainability and Resilience“.
Prof. Gawron contributed to the symposium by delivering a talk, sharing his and his co-authors’ research findings with the global geoscience and remote sensing community. The talk titled “What Could Be Achieved with a Million Qubits Quantum Annealer in Remote Sensing?” explored the potential advancements and applications of quantum annealing technology in the field of remote sensing.
