NCAC annual meeting 2023

On January 11-12, the traditional annual meeting of Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre’s (NCAC) employees was held at Bartycka 18. This year, the meeting was arranged in person with the possibility of connecting via Zoom platform.
On the first day, Director of the NCAC Prof. Rafał Moderski presented an extensive analysis of the past year, summarized the results and outlined the prospects for the coming year. This speech was followed by presentations of the leaders of major projects implemented at NCAC, in particular Prof. Leszek Roszkowski, Director of AstroCeNT, and Dr. Marcin Ziembicki, leader of the Hyper-Kamiokande, new project implemented at the AstroCeNT unit. The first day of the event ended with a gala dinner, to which all employees of the institute were invited.

On January 12, the first session of the meeting was devoted to the AstroCeNT scientific staff presentations.
Leaders of research groups, postdocs and doctoral students presented slides summarizing the activities implemented in 2022. Some of our colleagues who were on a research travel to CERN joined the presentation remotely.

Annual meetings at NCAC are a great opportunity to get acquainted with all projects in which the employees of the institute are involved. It is also a chance to see the scale of work done, find a solution to emerging problems and look into the future, which is particularly important for the scientific community.
