DarkSide-20k Summer Collaboration Meeting

On the 12-16th of June 2023 DarkSide-20k collaboration meeting took place at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) in Assergi, Italy.
The meeting saw almost complete representation from the AstroCeNT groups 1 and 4, including group leaders Prof. Marcin Kuźniak and Dr. Masayuki Wada, postdocs Marek Walczak, Rafał Wojaczyski, Azam Zabihi, Masato Kimura, and PhD students Theo Hugues, Iftikhar Ahmad, and Paules Zakhary. During the satellite DarkWave workshop and the main part of the meeting, they presented their scientific findings and engaged in important discussions about future experimental work. The workshop included talks by scientists from NCAC, INFN, University of Edinburgh, and Royal Holloway University of London, with a total of eleven presentations.
On June 15th, the 12th Board Meeting of the DarkWave project was held, focusing on comprehensive discussions about the status of DarkWave work packages, status of the budget and the implementation of the project’s communication strategy.
An integral part of the DS20k collaboration meeting was a tour of the underground laboratory. LNGS, one of the four national laboratories of INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), is one of the world’s largest underground laboratories for particle physics, particle astrophysics, and nuclear astrophysics experiments. Scientists from 22 different countries work on approximately 15 experiments at this facility. The highlight of the tour was the DarkSide-20k experiment, currently under construction and expected to begin operations in 2026.
