PhD student from GSSI visited AstroCeNT

Scientific exchange, advanced training and the possibility of cooperation with colleagues in other countries is one of the key activities supported by the DarkWave project.
In February and March 2022, AstroCeNT/NCAC was happy to host Teena Vallivilayil John, an astroparticle physics PhD student from Gran Sasso Science Institute, Italy. Teena visited AstroCeNT for one and a half months to work with Dr. Masayuki Wada and Iftikhar Ahmad. During her time here, the group mainly focused on the neutron background simulation of DarkSide-20K using FLUKA.

The FLUKA is a fully integrated MC simulation package for the calculations of particle transport and interaction with matter. Along with the group, she set up the framework needed for the FLUKA simulations study. Now the group can do high statistics simulations to determine the prompt cosmogenic neutron backgrounds.
We are very pleased that Teena was able to work productively with her colleagues thanks to the support of the DarkWave.
