3rd Einstein Telescope Annual Meeting in Warsaw

From November 12–15, 2024, Warsaw became the focal point for gravitational wave science as it hosted the Annual Meeting of the Einstein Telescope Collaboration. This prestigious event gathered over 500 participants, both onsite and online, including scientists, engineers, and policymakers from around the world.

The Einstein Telescope (ET) is a next-generation gravitational wave observatory poised to revolutionize astrophysics by detecting cosmic phenomena such as merging black holes, neutron stars, and supernovae with unparalleled sensitivity. Recognized as a flagship project on the ESFRI Roadmap 2021, ET unites over 1,700 researchers from 254 institutions across 30 countries, underscoring its global significance.

The meeting was organized by the University of Warsaw in collaboration with the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (NCAC PAS). Honorary patronage for the meeting was granted by Poland’s Minister of Science, the National Science Center, and Prof. Maciej Żylicz, President of the Foundation for Polish Science. These endorsements reflect the broad support for Poland’s role in advancing gravitational wave research.

Astrocent researchers from NCAC PAS played an active role in the event, both as presenters and as members of the Local Organizing Committee. Their contributions reaffirmed the Center’s commitment to the Einstein Telescope project, one of Astrocent’s strategic priorities.
