Electronics, Seismic and Environmental Sensors

Group leader: Dr Mariusz Suchenek

Suchenek has developed two instruments for scientific and industrial applications: infrasound and seismic sensors. Both instruments are ready for commercialization, with patent applications completed and implementation documentation prepared (achieving TRL8). The devices have been tested at EGO with the gravitational wave (GW) detector and are intended for use in the planned Einstein Telescope (ET) detector, as well as for non-scientific applications.

The high sensitivity requirements for ET necessitate the development of new sensors that are not currently available on the market. As a result, the critical technology of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) will be further developed. The group’s experience in designing reliable electronics, gained through collaborations with GW observatories and Hyper-K, will be a key asset, also valuable for the activities of other groups.
