Your responsibilities

The selected candidate will take part in building the digital infrastructure of the first particle astrophysics centre in Central and Eastern Europe. We are looking for someone who will not only co-create and develop our websites, but also play a key role in building modern software to support efficient, digitised management of the institute.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Administration, development, and creation of new websites (WordPress)
  • Designing, developing, and managing the intranet
  • Supporting and maintaining existing programming solutions
  • Analysing existing code, diagnosing and solving problems
  • Developing applications to support process and document flow management within Astrocent
  • Creating mobile interfaces for internal applications
  • Ensuring high quality of delivered code
  • Creating integration mechanisms and data exchange with other systems, including Google Workspace
  • Proposing IT solutions to improve administrative activities
  • Creating dynamic reports and visualisations (Front-End)
  • Designing and optimising databases (MySQL 8)
  • Automating backup creation
  • Writing documentation
  • Ensuring system security and continuity
  • Close cooperation with administrative and scientific staff

Candidates invited to an interview will be asked to present a concept of an application for maintaining a registry of contracts in a public institution, including:

  • User interface design – wireframes or mockups of main functionalities (contract list, add/edit, search)
  • Database structure design – table schema with key fields and data types
  • Business logic description – specification of main processes and data relationships
  • Functional requirements analysis – identification of key system features

We expect candidates to present a concept, demonstrate system thinking, and show the ability to independently develop a solution. The form of the presentation is up to the candidate.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a PHP Developer – mandatory
  • Experience in independent design and implementation of database applications
  • Very good knowledge of PHP 7 / 8
  • Very good knowledge of MySQL databases
  • Very good knowledge of Git
  • Good knowledge of JavaScript
  • Good knowledge of the Symfony framework
  • Knowledge of application security issues
  • Familiarity with design patterns, Composer, RestAPI
  • Knowledge of tools necessary for maintaining high code quality
  • Ability to integrate services (API, REST/SOAP, XML, CSV)
  • Knowledge of front-end stack (HTML/CSS/JS)
  • Use of open-source solutions
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to navigate complex, multi-threaded code and link its components
  • Good command of English (work in an international team)
  • High degree of independence and ability to create software directly based on user needs
  • Creativity in reflecting procedures in the developed software

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the subject of research grant accounting
  • Experience in implementing software for universities or research institutes
  • Experience with data migration
  • Willingness to take initiative, propose new solutions, technologies, functionalities
