Your responsibilities

We are seeking an expert in commercialization and intellectual property management who will take on the challenge of developing and implementing a commercialization framework for a planned new institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The institute will combine research in particle astrophysics with technologies addressing global challenges such as health, climate, and renewable energy.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Preparation and implementation of commercialization and intellectual property management policies,
  • Creation of a technological offering,
  • Identification of the commercialization potential of research results or work developed at the Institute, selection of optimal commercialization paths, preparation of technology valuations for solutions selected for commercialization,
  • Collaboration with research teams to implement, develop, and deploy R&D projects,
  • Co-creation of a business plan for the development of AC+ technologies and inventions based on monitoring market trends (market analysis, financial projections, commercialization roadmaps),
  • Support in coordinating the implementation of material and financial schedules for pre-implementation projects,
  • actively developing collaboration with industry, the public sector, and international partners,
  • building a culture of innovation and supporting scientists in activities related to IP protection, implementation, and commercialization,
  • supporting the acquisition of funding for technology development and commercialization,
  • participating in communication and promotional activities related to technology transfer, including participation in exhibitions, science-to-business fairs, and presentations with potential business partners,
  • monitoring market trends and competition.

Requirements

  • Higher education (preferred fields: engineering, science, or economics),
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technology transfer, commercialization of research results or innovations, evidenced by, for example, developed strategies or completed technology implementations,
  • Practical knowledge of intellectual property protection processes and IP management principles,
  • Proven experience in preparing commercialization strategies, market analyses, and business plans (mandatory requirement),
  • Ability to establish and develop relationships with industry, scientific institutions, and the business environment,
  • Fluency in spoken and written English (international cooperation, reporting),
  • Analytical, communication, and organizational skills, enabling the effective implementation of project tasks.

Preferred qualifications

  • Completed postgraduate studies, specialized courses, or certificates (e.g., in technology transfer, intellectual property management, research commercialization, innovation),
  • Proven experience in collaboration with international research and development consortia,
  • Professional experience in scientific institutions, technology transfer centers, or the industrial sector,
  • Knowledge of research and innovation funding (EU grants, commercialization support instruments),
  • Experience in developing internal regulations and procedures for IP and commercialization,
  • Experience in areas related to the physical sciences, in particular particle astrophysics, dark matter detection, gravitational waves, photonics technologies, and seismic sensors.
